Tombstone Tuesday: Victoria Breeden

Tombstone Tuesday is a daily prompt at Geneabloggers that asks bloggers to include an image of a gravestone of one or more ancestors along with a brief description of the image or the ancestor.

Coverstone Cemetery

Victoria Elizabeth Jollett Breeden is buried in the Coverstone Cemetery alongside her daughter Aleta Mae who died before she reached her first birthday.

According to Find A Grave, Decatur Breeden is buried in Coverstone Cemetery; however, his obituary says Cedar Hill in Prince Georges, Maryland. The latter location is more likely since Decatur had remarried and his second wife is buried there.

  2. Its always sad to hear of a child dying in infancy, but touching that her mother was buried with her. I have two great uncles that died in infancy and I can't find any evidence of their burials, with family or elsewhere.

  3. So many unknowns in the death of an infant, but for Aleta May a stone and the nearness of her mother is a comfort. Such is not the case for every so many in much of our families history.

  4. It's always so sad to see a headstone for a small child in a cemetery. I always think about those who stood at that spot and wept over their loss.
